Start your game driving experience in Nairobi National Park. The Park is located within Nairobi's city boundary, and is a haven for rhino, zebra, lions, giraffe and various antelope species. Spend the morning honing your wildlife watching and identification skills.
After lunch we will visit the Giraffe Centre, a renowned wildlife sanctuary focused on the conservation of the endangered Rothschild giraffes. Here, you'll have the unique opportunity to hand-feed these gentle giants while learning about their conservation efforts and the challenges of human- wildlife conflict.

The lakes district of Kenya is located around 3 hours drive north east of Nairobi, in the great Rift Valley. Head out on Lake Naivasha for a close up look at the various water birds and the occasional Hippo! Take a guided wildlife walk on Crescent Island. Established for the filming of Out Of Africa, the island is home to ostrich, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and various antelope species.

Explore the beauty of Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its stunning landscapes and rich wildlife. As you journey through the park, you may spot white rhinos, giraffe, zebra, hippo and primates, as well as elusive leopards lounging in the acacia trees. The park is also home to over 400 bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch by waterfalls before visiting a wonderful community initiative, Gilgil weavers, who create beautiful handwoven rugs, mats and blankets from local wool and cotton.

Depart early for your journey north, from the lakes district, through the Aberdere Mountains to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a stunning wildlife sanctuary in the heart of Laikipia County. Known for its remarkable conservation efforts, Ol Pejeta is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, and a diverse range of birds. As you explore the conservancy on your game drives, immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes and learn about the important work being done to protect these magnificent animals. Visit the last of the northern white rhino and Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
You will also have the opportunity to meet with the Ol Pejeta land managers and understand the integrated wildlife/livestock system being used to restore degraded rangelands in Kenya.

Mpala Research Centre is an amazing and dynamic research conservation area, dedicated to exploring the complex relationships between wildlife, livestock and community. Limited only to researchers, spend the next 2 days exploring the wildlife conservancy, observing wildlife, meeting leading edge researchers while learning about the influence of cultures such as the Maasai, on landscape and wildlife management in northern Kenya.

Begin your day with a scenic drive through northern Kenya, to Sabache Community Camp, a hidden gem under the shadow of Ololokwe Mountains. Sabache is locally owned by the Samburu community and you will experience a taste of the Samburu culture in this beautiful location. This is the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions, gaining a deeper understanding of the vibrant communities living in harmony with their environment.

This morning you will visit Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a wildlife rescue, rehab and release program, run by the local Samburu people. Following the Reteti visit, we will head south to Samburu National Reserve. This part of Kenya is a haven for the "northern 5" - Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Somali ostrich. With the Ewaso Ngiro River running through the heart of the Samburu region, there is a constant water source for the large herds of elephants that the reserve is famous for. Spend your afternoon on game drives, while exploring different research questions and possible data collection scenarios.

Spend today on Game Drives within the reserve. Samburu is also famous for its cheetah and lion population so keep an eye out for these incredible cats.

After a last game drive through the reserve, we will return south and journey back to Nairobi. We will drop you at Jomo kenyatta International Airport for flights after 8pm.

Brooke Squires - Founder/Director RAW Africa Eco-Tours
Brooke has a degree in Biology and Masters in International Community Development. She spent 17 years as a rhino keeper at Werribee Open Range Zoo in Australia, before moving to the Wildlife Conservation and Science team at Zoos Victoria. In this role Brooke was able to develop Zoos Victoria's international partnerships and programs in Kenya and DR Congo.
Brooke established RAW Africa Eco-Tours in 2012, based on a passionate belief that both communities and wildlife in Africa can benefit from sustainable tourism. Brooke believes that 'RAW' guests can make a difference by spending time with organisations working on the frontline of conservation. This is the heart and soul of RAW’s Conservation journeys, which directly support our conservation field partners, while giving our guests insight into the complexities of wildlife conservation in Africa.
